When I was a boy, my father was a ranch foreman responsible for repairing farm equipment and windmills on the Salman Ranch in Northern New Mexico. I never forgot the view from a windmill platform. It was a special place for an eight-year-old. "Cowboy Sky Scraper" provides a glimpse of that experience and of a lost but important trade - repairing windmills in the Southwestern United States. It was painted near Tucumcari Hill in New Mexico.
